Getting started with SerpCalls
A practical guide to setting up your business and understanding your first report.
From account to first report
Have your business name, website, service cities, and a short list of service keywords ready. You can return to this guide at any step.
Step 1
Create your account and organization
Sign up with your work email through NorfBay, SerpCalls' account provider. Complete any email verification requested, then review and accept the current terms. Name your organization: this is the team that owns billing and its business dashboards.
Sign in or resume setup →Step 2
Add your business dashboard
One workspace tracks one business. Enter its business name, website domain (for example, example.com), and primary city. Check the business shown in the workspace switcher before changing settings. You can manage additional dashboards from Settings → Dashboards.
Manage dashboards →Step 3
Activate the right plan
Open Billing to review your plan, location quantity, coverage, price, and scan cadence before checkout. New self-serve accounts require an active paid plan to run checks. Returning from checkout does not by itself confirm activation: check the Billing screen. An organization owner or admin manages billing.
Open billing →Step 4
Choose what to track
Save your business name and website in Settings. Add cities where you actually serve customers and keywords for services you offer, such as furnace repair or drain cleaning. Start with a small, useful set. Cities and active keywords are required for a check. Add the correct business location to match your listing; review any added location charge before confirming.
Open workspace settings →Step 5
Connect data sources when you need them
Google is optional for rank tracking. In Integrations, connect an account that can access your business, then select the Search Console site and Analytics property. Connecting an account alone does not select those properties. Revenue attribution needs a supported CRM connection and imported data. Review requests also need the relevant completed-job or signed-webhook flow configured.
Open integrations →Step 6
Run and read your first report
On Dashboard, finish the Get started checklist and choose Run your first check. Follow its status in Settings → Check Run History; wait for completion before reading Rankings. Choose the report and search channel, filter by city or keyword, and use Export CSV to save results. Checks follow your plan cadence; manual refresh does not bypass it. A missing ranking means it was not observed within that check's search depth, not that your website does not exist.

Help when you get stuck
I cannot sign in or finish account setup
Use the same NorfBay account you signed up with. Complete the requested verification and current terms. If you joined a team, ask its owner to confirm your invitation and access. Send support the step and error text if you keep returning to the same screen.
Sign in →My first check is blocked or still running
Confirm your plan is active, your business name and website are saved, and you have at least one city and active keyword. Read the check status and any error in Check Run History. If a check failed or completed with failures, review the failed tasks before retrying. A completed check can still have missing results; repeated refreshes do not fix provider errors or cadence limits.
Check settings and run history →Google says connected, but I have no search or revenue data
Select the right Search Console and Analytics properties in Integrations. Your Google account needs permission to access them. A connection marked as needing reconnection must be reconnected. CRM revenue requires its own integration and data; a Google connection alone does not create job or revenue records.
Check integrations →I cannot edit settings or billing
Check that you selected the right business dashboard. Some actions require an organization owner or admin. Ask your team owner to make the change or review your role; support can help diagnose access problems.
Review team access →Where will my report emails go?
Review notification recipients in workspace Settings. If recipients have never been configured, reports use the workspace owner's email. An explicitly empty recipient list sends to nobody. Check the monthly report setting and your spam folder. A completed scan does not prove an email reached your inbox.
Review report recipients →Need help with your setup?
Email support with your business name, the step you reached, and the error text and time. Include a screenshot if it helps, with private information removed. Keep passwords, API keys, payment details, and customer records out of your message.
